Your Questions Answered:
Before you read on, please be aware that RME’s first message to you is that RME does not cut corners. RME uses only TOP QUALITY products and our products are the kind of products that we would put on our own roofs.
That is the RME Quality of Assurance.
Q: Who designs my system?
Your design will be design by a Clean Energy Council accredited solar designer. A site inspector will be conducting a kerbside/driveby site inspection to every property to make sure that the system can be fitted and suited to your property.
Q: Is the designer accredited by the Clean Energy Council (not just the installer)?
Yes all RME designers are accredited by the Clean Energy Council.
Q: How many systems have you installed?
To date we have installed over 2000 properties across Australia. RME uses only highly experienced, responsible and qualified installers.
Q: Who does the electrical hookup to the grid?
In NSW Level 2 electricians will do the hookup to the grid. RME’s quote will not include the Level 2 electrician cost as this is a separate third party job and should not be done by the same solar company. However, RME will help to organise a level 2 electrician contractor to get the job done for you. RME will not put any extra surcharge for this service. All fees are to be given directly to the level 2 electrician. Be careful to those electricians that quote you too high. A reasonable cost is between $300-$400.
Q: Is the inverter transformerless? (these are much more efficient)
Yes it is transformerless. In fact RME Sunny Roo inverters carry a 96% efficiency which is the highest compared to all other inverter brands. RME Sunny Roo series such as SR2000TL, SR3000TL, SR4200TL & SR5000TL are top quality products with the highest efficiency in the market.
Q: Is the inverter expandable if I get more panels in the future?
This is my favourite question because RME is definitely NAILING it. The answer is a BIG YES. This is RME’s main NICHE in the market. This is what RME specialises at. The future is Solar Energy therefore RME also thinks about your future. No one is selling a 1Kw solar panels system in 2010 any longer. Why? Because a 1Kw solar panels is system simply not good enough anymore. Since electricity went up in 2010, a 1Kw solar panels system has become insufficient to produce good amounts of electricity to be fed back to the grid. RME is giving away a 2Kw inverter for a 1.5Kw UpGraded solar panels system. You are surely in the right hands.
Q: If the panels are installed on different roof areas facing slightly different directions, will you use an inverter with separate inputs for each string of panels?
YES, only for 5Kw solar panels systems. RME Sunny Roo Inverters have this feature. This is essential but REALISTICALLY in Australia, I haven’t seen any smaller size inverter less than a 5Kw Inverter that can take on different directions of solar panels installation.
Q: Do the panels have bypass diodes installed? (these diodes improve the performance in cloud cover and under partial shading by ‘bypassing’ the shaded cell so that it doesn’t bring down all the other unshaded cells’ performance)
This is an excellent question for RME. Bypass diodes are standard and serve to minimize power drop caused by shading, ensuring consistently higher energy yields and superior year-round performance. So all RME’s solar panels have bypass diodes installed.
Q: Does the price quoted include all the necessary metering changes and paperwork for my local electricity supplier?
In VIC yes RME will do the paperwork for the electricity supplier. In NSW, Level 2 electricians will do the paperwork and the cost of a Level 2 electrician is a separate cost. However as mentioned previously, RME will be more than happy to refer customers to some level 2 electricians. List of level 2 electricians can also be found in the office of Fair Trading Website. Q: Can you provide me with references in my area?
RME’s customer base are all across Australia. RME will be happy to provide the closest reference available. See what our customers are saying about RME
Q: How will I know if my system is performing to it’s max potential on a day to day basis?
The RME Sunny Roo Inverter & smart meter will be able to tell you the system’s production. RME installers will explain to you how to read & use the inverter.
Q:Do you handle all the rebate paperwork for me so I just have to pay the difference?
Yes, RME will handle all the RECs rebate and relevant paperwork so you just have to pay the difference. RME has made it super easy for you. No waiting over 4 weeks to have your RECs processed.
Q:What is the lead time from my payment to getting electricity from the solar panels?
RME’s current installation turnaround time is 4 weeks from the point deposit is cleared or finance is approved. RME is not interested in holding your deposit for 4 months or more to get your solar panels system installed. RME wants to install your system as quickly as possible. Now the question about lead time to getting electricity from the solar panels is dependent on when your solar panels system is connected to the grid. Lead time is various in each states. In NSW you can get it up and running within 1 or 2 weeks. In VIC you will have to wait for your electricity provider to arrange it for you.
Q: Do you give an accurate estimation of system production with your quotes?
The answer is YES & NO, because solar panels system production is based on which zone you are located in. For example in zone 3, Sydney’s average estimated sunlight hours are 4.6 hours daily. So the basic way to calculate is 4.6 hours x 1.5kw (if solar panels system is 1.5Kw) x 365 days = 2518Kwh per annum. Also orientation and angle might influence the system production. This is why RME is giving a 1.5Kw solar panels system that is exceeding 1500 watts output UNLIKE some others who claim to be a 1,5Kw solar energy system but in fact the solar panels system output is ONLY 1,440 watts (8 solar panels x 180 watts) and just round it up to a 1,5Kw solar panels system.
The point is RME does not cut corners and IN FACT, RME gives more than others. RME’s generosity in giving a 2Kw inverter on the 1,5Kw solar panels system proves that RME cares about your future solar energy needs.
Q: Does the mounting system allow airflow under the panels to help cool them?
Yes RME’s mounting system allows airflow under the panels. Please see our project gallery of an RME bracket
Q: What performance guarantees do I get for the system as a whole?
30 year limited power guarantee
Q: Which guarantees/warranties are your responsibilities; and which are the manufacturers?
All warranties are manufacturer’s warranty and Sunny Roo’s warranty is underwritten by CHUBB insurance a well known insurance company.
Q: Are the installers employed by you or are they subcontracted?
RME only use highly experienced and qualified installers. In the solar industry or may be in every trade & building industry, the best and highly skilled individuals are working for themselves as contractors. Why? A Very direct and straight forward answer is: the remuneration is higher.
Q:If I have to deal with the panel or inverter manufacturer in the future, do they have an Australian office?
PERFECT question, once again RME nails it. Australian company Sunny Roo’s products own their own manufacturing arm.
